Badminton Horse Trials

Midlands Saturday Club

Saturday 4th May was a day of adventure for the Circles Network Midlands Saturday Club who visited Badminton Horse Trials.
This is an international horse event where the very best horses and riders from across the world compete over 5 days and multiple phases.
Saturday Club visited for the cross country phase and were able to watch competitors take on the enormous obstacles over a 4 mile course.

Badminton Horse Trials

The day started early as it was a long drive to Badminton. There were a few unplanned hiccups along the way when several of the children developed travel sickness but undeterred the team carried on regardless!
Once in Badminton we were met by a huge traffic queue to get into the event. All of the weary travellers were very patient as we meandered along the country lanes, navigating our way into Badminton House.

The long trip was worth it though and everyone enjoyed a picnic in the stunning grounds whilst watching competitors galloping past. We headed off to walk the course and were able to see many of the jumps up close as the competitors flew over.

There was time for an ice cream and everyone fell in love with the huge, gentle police horses who were working.

There was a lot of walking and everyone was quite tired however the journey back was easier and there was even time to stop for chips in the park at Moreton-In –The- Marsh!

Circles Network Midlands Saturday club visit to Badminton horse trials - what an adventure!
