Alternative Education

About Us

Based in Rugby, we offer a truly holistic approach to alternative education provisions, with a wide variety of learning and training on offer. All of our short courses are facilitated by ASDAN, an education charity and awarding organisation who provide accredited programmes and regulated qualifications. The Academy is an essential segment of Circles Network as a whole and is open to participants of all ages. In addition this this, our courses and workshops are designed to support everyone within a circle of support, from parents and carers, to individuals and their care teams.

OUR APPROACH

Inclusive

Our goal is to help young people achieve meaningful learning outcomes, elevating them to progress to further education, training or work, and empowering them to take control of their lives.

PROVISION

A Comprehensive Provider

All three sub groups of our Academy can be rolled in as alternative education. What makes the Rugby hub unique is the exciting facilities detailed below.

Circles Hair & Beauty Haven
Since July 2023 our hair and beauty salon ‘Flaunt & Flourish’ has been open to young people, aged 13+ with varying degrees of learning or additional needs, including disability, anxiety, ADHD and autism, to come and learn in a practical working environment.
It’s open to the public for paid hair and beauty treatments from trained practitioners.
It’s also a great place for young people to feel a sense of belonging whilst they come along and learn the art of customer service, hair styling, beauty skills, stress management, product skills, designing packages and parties, socialising, life skills and so much more.

Equine facilitated learning
When inside learning environments can be too much, this is where our equine learning comes into its own. Suitable and inclusive of both adults and children. From disabled and disadvantaged children, young people and adults of all ages, people with attachment difficulties, autism, ADHD and ADD, to corporate groups and teams, people who are at risk of isolation, people transitioning through any major change such as: illness or trauma, school or college, employment or retirement, and new beginnings.
As with many of our young people’s alternative education provisions, most of the time children who attend equine facilitated learning are not attending school and, or their school is unable to meet their needs effectively.

More often than not, we work alongside the school to deliver on the student’s educational health care plan outcomes. However, there are options for parents and schools to pay privately to access the courses if they should wish.
There’s a mixture of full and half day sessions available. Importantly, the sessions are child-led. This means we go at their pace, offering a safe space to use the horses and ponies to build their confidence, help them make friends and practically encourage positive behaviours.

Life skills and care community training
We also offer a specialised coaching and mentoring service designed to support children navigating challenging transitions and aid emotional development. This service focuses on helping children understand and manage their emotions during significant life changes, such as starting a new school, dealing with family dynamics, or moving to a new environment.
In providing personalised guidance, our trained mentors create a safe and supportive space for children to manage their mental health, express their feelings, build resilience, and develop effective coping strategies for themselves.
Our tailored person-centred approach ensures that each child receives the encouragement and tools they need to thrive, not only during transitional periods but far beyond.
