South Ayrshire

About Us

Our statutory advocacy services have been commissioned in South Ayrshire since 2016. We give those, whose circumstances determine that they have a legal right to access, a support mechanism to ensure their voices are heard.

Many vulnerable people come to us when they have nowhere to turn, those who may find it difficult to share their views – we’re their last resort and perhaps even their last chance of hope. Often our advocates have lived experience of the challenges so they can understand, relate and therefore provide a multi-layered approach to the advocacy experience.

Services

Who can use the service?

We support anyone over the age of 16 who lives in South Ayrshire and is experiencing one or more of the following.

  • mental ill health
  • dementia
  • learning, physical or sensory impairments
  • aquired brain injury
  • chronic/long term illness
  • autistic spectrum diagnosis
  • drug or alcohol dependency
  • personality disorder
  • receiving self-directed support budgets

Support

We Help People

To have a say in, and about, the services they receive.

We are inclusive in our approach and support people from all backgrounds, those detained under the Mental Health Act, people who are subject to interventions under the Adults with Incapacity Act and the Adult Support and Protection Act, carers, parents, people in refuge and people who are homeless or experiencing issues related to alcohol or drug dependency.
The support we give can cover a range of challenges from small, day-today issues, such as paying bills or making telephone calls, to significant quality of life scenarios – which we believe early intervention could help to avoid.
