Life Building for Change
At
the end of this 2 day course participants understand:
• the history of the treatment of disabled people
• whole life planning, using person centred planning approaches and tools
• options for employment, voluntary work and self advocacy
• how decisions are made and how to influence them
• how to access necessary support
• the implications of supported living, direct payments and other lifestyles
• how to use circles of support and community structures of empowerment
Learning Styles
In this workshop you will find out the way you learn and the way this affects
your emotional and communication interactions with other people. You will
discover ways in which you can help yourself and others to accelerate learning,
read and write with more comfort and therefore increase motivation in these
activities.
Communication into Action
Many people are offered limited choices because it is thought that they do not
understand. During the one day programme Communication into Action will look at
a variety of ways that choices can be offered. We will also look at developing
ways of encouraging communication.
Friendship and Community Matters
Through this day participants gain confidence to develop friendships and
community life for those who are excluded, and will be shown the necessary
skills to do this.
One Day Creativity Workshop
Participants will practice a variety of non-risky exercises designed to convince
them that they are creative (Attitude), to show them how to be intentional about
their new-found creativity (Commitment), and to practice our no-fail
idea-generating techniques (Tools). ACT now!
Basic
Massage
This day is aimed at those feeling a little low on confidence, and those who see
this feeling in the people around them and want to help. Massage can be used as
a tool to help people to feel comfortable and open up about their feelings.
Train the Trainers
By the end of these 2 days, participants will know what key skills are required
to deliver learning
and
have information on how to carry out many of the tasks required prior and during
delivery.
Independent Living
This 2 day course will be useful for both professional people working with
individuals who want to achieve independent living, and disabled people
themselves who wish to know more about their options regarding the choices
available.
Building Portfolios
This 10 day course will enable participants to look at all forms of person
centred planning and how these can be built into supporting someone to develop a
portfolio of their life.
