 Ireland - Training

We offer a number of training courses, the following are the most popular at present:

Person Centred Planning

  PCP Course Format:

Person centred planning is a process of life planning for individuals, based around the principles of inclusion and the social model of disability. Derived mainly from the early work in building circles of support, these tools should be available for us all. Person centred planning tools are alive and active, always ensuring the focus person is central and in control. They are flexible, setting no limits to the person’s wants, needs and dreams for their life.

Day 1: Values of Inclusion and Introduction to Person Centred Planning

Day 2: MAPS and Personal Futures Planning

Day 3: PATH and Circles of Support

Day 4: Portfolio Development

Day 5: Essential Lifestyle Planning

Day 6: Facilitation and Graphics

Six day course costs: £450

During the course participants will have the opportunity to learn and role play the following important elements of facilitation
:

  • Mapping out relationships.

  • Hospitality and its importance.

  • Circle meetings

  • The art of introduction – things that work and things that don’t. Culture

  • Barriers / Opportunities

  • The gift of time – yours!

  • Toolkits.

  • Positive approaches and problem solving with reference to person centred planning. Solution circles.

  • Graphic facilitation

  • and MOST IMPORTANTLY DREAMING FOR A DESIRABLE FUTURE.

Inclusion and Creativity……….the missing link!

This two day course challenges the assumptions we make about disabled people and explores the use of creative thinking as a tool we can use which supports inclusion. Making change is something which is difficult for everyone, individuals, organizations and communities alike. It is difficult to let go of the old and to seek new and alternative ideas to solve problems which have existed for many years.

Person centred approaches demand new thinking and this course, which will be of interest to professionals from education and social care within both statutory and voluntary sectors, will provide some useful tools which will rekindle our creativity and enable change.
